The Siren is an exploration of the notion of the Other.  It explores the nature of the feminine mystic within the screen and the seemingly active male gaze. The Siren, both alluring and terrifying, embodies the duel nature of all women throughout time and confronts the audience, asking if ‘I do not exist in my own right. If I am merely a symptom of male desire, then ‘what am I?’

The View from NoWhen allows the audience to become observers, with an unrestricted perspective on time, witnessing a disruption to space and time. The piece will explore and map the interaction between movement on stage and the space of the stage itself, so that the performer appears to pull and distort the air as if it were tangible malleable matter. Objects on stage will move, crumble or bend in relation to the gravitational force exerted by the performer. The space will appear to stretch, grow and shrink or momentarily reflect as it dances with the performer

Rachel Garrard

2012 is an epoch of time denoting the end of the 26,000-year cycle called the precession of the equinox. Based on the geometry of this precessional cycle ‘Journey home through the constellations’ is a holographic performance depicting the passing of time on a cosmological scale. The creation of the world was mythologically seen as the dance of God, the circumbulation of the stars and constellations of the planets, a mirror of the original creation. Re-creating the rhythmic movement of the celestial symphony, the artist traces the path of the three intersecting galactic planes as they journey towards alignment.

The piece deals with hidden laws of fractal mathematics, complex algorithms and its reflection in human existence being part many processes in Nature. Using approach of intuitive dance, the performer moves within a geometric pattern created by oneself, expanding and unfolding the fractal complexity through motion by altering the mathematical equation on the fly.
